To All Northampton Neighbourhood Watch / Alert Members

There has been an increase in the number of burglaries in Northampton recently, the majority of which have been evening/night time.

It is likely that these incidents have been a result of people out looking for properties to target.  Please make sure you lock windows and doors, use a timer for lights switches etc and keep curtains drawn with light on inside the premises.

CCTV has helped the police catch and detain those responsible, along with reports of suspicious activity , such as vehicles with multiple occupants, parked up or just driving around slowly in your neighbourhood looking at properties..

What can you do  ?

Make sure your property is secure, and looks secure, even when you are at home. If you leave a window open to allow flow of air, make sure you shut them whenever you leave the room or premises.

If you see unusual activity, something that makes you suspicious, or see a car or persons hanging around, report it immediately,

If you can, get as much information as possible, like :-
Vehicle index no, make model and colour.
Description of person/s, Colour and type of clothes, Height, build, colour of skin.

If you can take a picture without putting yourself at risk, do so

If it’s a crime in progress always call 999
