Not many people would agree to take on the task of running 26 miles through London, but that is what Andrea Smith, partner at Franklins Solicitors, has committed to this April.
On Sunday 28th April, Andrea will be running the London Marathon in aid of local charity Cynthia Spencer Hospice. Based in Northampton and Milton Keynes, Franklins have supported Cynthia Spencer for the last few years with the likes of the £50 challenge. 2019 has seen them kick-start the year with a London Marathon campaign; the ultimate aim to raise £10,000.
Cynthia Spencer Hospice is well-known around Northamptonshire for providing specialist palliative care services to patients and families in the North of the County. The costs of running the hospice tops £2.4m each year; in fact it costs £50,000 to help fund just 50 days of community care, making campaigns and donations like this crucial to the running of the charity.
At the time of publication, local businesses and people had supported Andrea’s marathon run to the tune of £6696. 28 businesses have sponsored one each of the 26 miles during the marathon, with 2 businesses sponsoring the warm up and warm down.
Supporting a charity like Cynthia Spencer was enough in itself for the sponsors to part with £262 each. However, on top of this, the team at Franklins are organising a series of networking events and activities in the lead up to the marathon, to help them to hit the golden £10k target.
