The Northampton Half Marathon race is running for the seventh time this year on the 29th of September 2019. The route will take in historic sites around Northampton town centre, revealing its historic industrial past, before heading out along the River Nene and surrounding countryside. Finally, Delapre Abbey will provide a beautiful dramatic backdrop for the finishing line. For more information about the event and the route itself see http://northamptonhalfmarathon.co.uk/home.

It is possible to enter this event as a charity runner and to fundraise for the British Red Cross. Anyone who does decide to fundraise for us would be given free entry to the event (it normally costs £29) and be expected to raise at least £100 in return – we will of course support you every step of the way!

The British Red Cross work both overseas and in the UK to help people in crisis – locally, this ranges from our family tracing service for refugees linking people with lost family members, to helping people with loneliness, and more. Here in Northamptonshire our mobility aids service is a big part of our local work as we help hundreds of people every year access a wheelchair (in 2018 we helped 335 people hire a wheelchair). By fundraising for the British Red Cross your runners could support this vital work for people in crisis, both in the local area and abroad.
