The Northampton Pride Committee is appealing to businesses to support the town’s Pride event on Saturday, 18 July.
Building on the buzz created by the first official outdoor Pride event held on the Market Square in 2019, this year – for the first time – a Pride Parade will take place as part of the event.
It will begin in Market Square and finish in Becket’s Park, where live performances will be held.
Previous celebrations have seen support from organisations such as Q Space, The Lowdown, Outlaws, Kinky Boots, Northampton Leisure Trust, The Grosvenor Centre, Unison and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
This year organising partners are hoping for backing from more local businesses and support groups. A range of sponsorship opportunities are available, each with its own benefits in terms of brand exposure and involvement in Northampton Pride celebrations. They can become a sponsor for as little as £500 or a ’Platinum Supporter’ for £3,000.
Councillor Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety, said: “Every year, Pride Northampton relies on the generosity of local businesses and support organisations to deliver an event that brings the community together.
“By taking part in Pride, organisations can visibly demonstrate their commitment to diversity and inclusion, both internally and externally, and also help support the UK’s biggest LGBT+ platform and event.”
Taking place between 12.30pm and 6pm, the event is organised by Northampton’s LGBTQ and Allies Forum and the Northampton Pride Committee, and aims to highlight the LGBTQ community, businesses and support groups.
Additionally, local bands, performers, small businesses and residents who would like the opportunity to take part in this year’s Northampton Pride can register their interest on Northampton Borough Council website https://bit.ly/2ZLvwX4
