The 57th Art in Park exhibition will open to the public this Saturday, 12 May, at 1pm in Abington Park Museum.

The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Tony Ansell and his Mayoress, Jane Crofts, will open the annual display, which showcases the work of both amateur and professional artists from across Northamptonshire.

There are over 70 entries this year, from recognisable names including Maureen Forde, Jean Edwards, William Pearson and Stella Benford, along with other artists who are exhibiting for the first time.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to view a variety of subjects and local views, such as the Guildhall, All Saints Church, and Becket’s Well, as well as more rural views of the county, created using watercolour, print, acrylic, oil and pen and ink.

Councillor Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety, said: “Art in the Park began in 1961 and is now a firm favourite in the museum events calendar.

“Each year we really look forward to seeing some amazing talent from across the county in the beautiful surroundings of Abington Park Museum.”

The exhibition is open from Thursdays to Sundays and on Bank Holiday Mondays between 1pm and 5pm and will run until Sunday, 10 June. Admission is free and most pieces will be on sale.
